An important strand in my red thread is a natural urge to be the change I wish to see in the world. That’s why facilitating social change is a significant part of my business agenda. For me, business as usual means providing pro-bono support to several non-profit enterprises that help support creativity, women, children and the environment. Spotlighting both emerging and established performing artists with pieces under 10 minutes in length, LUCKY TRIMMER represents a broad vision of what contemporary dance is today. The non-profit foundation, based in Berlin encourages performance-makers of all kinds to experiment, question, dare and most importantly, to dance.
It is estimated that, more than 300,000 children, some as young as 5 years old are participating in over 30 armed conflicts worldwide. Kidnapping and forceful recruitment of children has occurred in more than 20 nations, including Uganda. It is upon this background that Children of Peace Uganda (CPU) was established, with a goal to rebuild lives of children and youth who have returned from LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army) captivity. This is being implemented through trauma therapy, education support, livelihood and advocacy.
